JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Lee’s Summit teen who was driving during a crash that killed a 15 year old student from Blue Springs, was sentenced Wednesday in Independence.
Blake Issacson, 19, has been sentenced to four years in prison, but becomes eligible for probation after serving 120 days in prison. Issacson was the driver of a vehicle that police say was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a tree on November 16, 2016. Macie Rice, 15, died in the crash and Katelin Mershon, 15, both of Blue Springs, received serious injuries.
Issacson pled guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault in the third degree on November 8 of 2017.
