The Lexington City Council had a lot to discuss at Tuesday Night’s meeting.  Council voted to raise sewer rates by three percent.  Mayor Jerry Brown says it will be used to make payments on the city’s bonds.  He says most residents will experience a difference of about 30 cents per month.  Council also approved a bulb-out at Eleventh and Franklin Streets.  According to Brown, the extension of the curb at the cross-walk will increase pedestrian safety. The premier project is entirely funded by a grant from the University of Missouri Extension.  Council also approved an agreement with the Lexington Auditorium Association to restore the old theatre.  Brown says they need about one million dollars to complete repairs, and currently have several thousand to work with.
