The Missouri House of Representatives will meet in a week or so to look at and possibly overturn certain line-item vetoes made by Governor Jay Nixon.
Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Rep. Mike Lair of the 7th district about education cuts due to the Governor’s actions.
Rep. Lair says the education cuts are fairly small but very significant when it comes to the benefits for students and school districts.
Lair said those are just from the DESE budget, let alone the cuts from higher education.
Lair adds he believes the vetoes are politically motivated.
Rep. Lair goes onto say that Missouri schools have lost a huge portion of their formula funding as well as transportation money. He says the votes should be there to overturn some of the vetoes when they gather in early August.
