LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. — The Livingston County Health Center has confirmed a third variant of COVID-19 in the county. County health officials were hopeful that numbers were on the decline last week. Now, the center has announced the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has officially given confirmation that the “Iota (New York) variant of COVID-19 is circulating in Livingston County.” The other two variants, Delta and Alpha, had already been confirmed in Livingston County, which are believed to be more contagious than the Iota variant. The center posted updated COVID-19 case numbers Friday, June 11, when the county was sitting at 105 confirmed cases.
The Livingston County Health Center urges residents to get vaccinated. The department is offering free walk-in vaccinations from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Rapid testing is also available to those who have COVID-19 symptoms from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday, by calling 660-646-5506.
