CARROLLTON, Mo – On June 19, 2017, the Mayview Fire Protection District suffered a tragic loss. While responding to a call, volunteer firefighter Jeff Sanders, died in the line of duty. Jeff served the Mayview Fire Protection District for more than 30 years and was a staple in the Mayview community.

In remembrance on Jeff, the Mayview community, led by Mayview Fire Chief’s daughter, Abby White, wanted to honor Jeff in a special way.

With help from her 4-H members, MODOT and local government representatives, the stretch of Highway E from the Mayview Fire Station to Interstate 70 will be honored as the Firefighter Jeff Sanders Memorial Highway.

A memorial sign dedication ceremony honoring Jeff Sanders will be held Sunday, October 6th at 3 p.m. at the Mayview Fire Station. The public is invited to attend the event.
