Senator Mike Parsons made a big announcement in Sedalia on May 1st. The Republican representative of the 28th district of Missouri announced he was making a run for the governor’s office. Speaking in front of a crowd at Starline Inc. in Sedalia the Senator, a third generation farmer, said that if elected there would be much focus on the agricultural industry within the state. The Senator previously announced his candidacy to a crowd of around 800 in his hometown of Bolivar. Parsons currently owns and operates a cow and calf operation near his hometown of Bolivar, he also boasts a previous Army career and was previously Sheriff of Polk County. He is the chair of the Small Business, Insurance & Industry Committee, and has previously served as the Senate Majority Whip. He currently lives with his wife Teresa, and has a son and daughter as well as five grandchildren.
