Two horses loose on a highway in Carroll County caused a crash and disrupted traffic for nearly three hours Thursday morning.
Corporal David Kline with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene just after 5:10 a.m.Thursday just south of County Road 200 on Highway 65 near the Bogard Junction.
According to Cpl. Kline a tractor trailer did not see the horses in time and struck them both. The equines had escaped confinement. The semi was seriously damaged and had to be towed from the scene. The horses did not survive.
Emergency crews were on scene until approximately 8 a.m. Traffic was only slowed in the area by the accident. There were no injuries reported and no charges will be filed.
