PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) – A Kansas City man admits he was drunk and driving more than 150 mph when his Camaro struck the back of a car and killed a young woman inside and hurt another. Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd says 27-year-old John McNamara pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter in the Aug. 22 crash on Interstate 29 at Kansas City’s northern edge. Zahnd says the data retrieval system from McNamara’s car shows he was doing 152 mph less than three seconds before hitting the back of a car in which 22-year-old Abby Cockrill was a passenger. The Platte City woman was scheduled to graduate in December with honors from Northwest Missouri State University. She had just begun student-teaching and had accepted a job as youth minister at her church.
