BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KANSAS CITY STAR) — Police are still searching for two suspects involved in a shooting in Blue Springs that left one man dead and another with critical injuries.

The Kansas City Start reports police responded to reports of multiple shots being fired about 12:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Southwest Park Drive. When they arrived, they found the body of a man who died from an apparent gunshot wound, according to media reports.

Witnesses gave police a description of a car that several people fled in. Officers headed to the scene saw the car speeding away from the area and tried to pull it over as it was headed north on Missouri 7. The driver steered the car into a ditch near 30th Terrace in Independence.

Two people fled from the car into nearby woods. Police found a third person with an apparent gunshot wound in the car. The person was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

Police searched the area for several hours looking for the two people who fled.
