Charges against a 14-year-old for the death of another boy in St. Joseph, have been upgraded.

According to St. Joseph News Press, the Buchanan County Juvenile Office originally charged the unnamed suspect with second-degree assault, but have upgraded the charges to include involuntary manslaughter.

The accused reportedly shot Jeremiah Hernandez, 14, November 9 near 29th Street and Penn Street. He died days later in an area hospital.

The next hearing in the juvenile’s case, is December 20.
