A northwest Missouri woman will spend the next seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the death of her young daughter.
Nicole Lister, 24, of Eagleville, was charged in September 2012 with second-degree murder and child abuse. Lister called 911 to report her nearly 8-month-old daughter, Kiraleigh Grace Wheeler, was not breathing, according to court documents. The child died later at a hospital. Preliminary autopsy results found that Kiraleigh suffered multiple injuries in various stages of healing. At the time charges were filed, police believed the abuse had been going on for several months.
Lister appeared in court Thursday and entered a plea of guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Judge Jack Peace recessed for 24 hours and on Friday handed down the seven year sentence that began immediately.
