COOPER COUNTY, Mo. — A setting preliminary hearing was postponed Tuesday for a inmate accused of manslaughter in Cooper County.

The court continued the 11:00 a.m. hearing for 34-year-old George Walter Black, who was incarcerated at the Boonville Correctional Center at the time of the death.

Court document allege that Black struck another inmate during an argument, causing that inmate, who was not identified in court documents, to strike his head when he fell.

The man was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A new hearing for Black is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on January 29. He remains behind bars at the Jefferson City Correctional Center, held without bond.
