After months of discussion, Marshall’s City Council is preparing to enter into an economic development agreement. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Marshall Mayor Mark Gooden:
Gooden says the Zimmer Real Estate Group met with city officials from Marshall, Sweet Springs, and Slater Monday afternoon and presented a plan to involve multiple sources of funding for a project at not just the Marshall Junction, but also within the city limits. Previously, the Zimmer group was seeking around $90,000 outlay of cash from the city for their services, but private investors have stepped forward and are willing to participate in the project as well. Gooden reports the city council is seeking the input of community members at a hearing on November 7th.
In other city news, College Street will be closed between Grant and Miami Avenues starting at around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday as crews will replace a drainage pipe that spans the road. Officials expect the work to take a week. Following the completion of that repair, crews will grind down College Street to level and later resurface the road.
