MARSHALL, Mo.- Marshall City Council held their last meeting of the month yesterday, November 16, 2015. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m and invocation, roll call, adoption of the agenda, and approve the minutes from council meeting of November 2, 2015.
Business from the audience last night was listed first, and a few residents stood up to speak. The librarian introduced her library employees and another resident spoke on a city-wide trash pick up in April.
Committee reports followed business from the audience and Property, Finance, Budget & Audit Committee reported on the clean audit that was just completed. Public Relations and Public Safety Committee commented on the new sales tax passed in the City of Marshall and also made a motion to add a police department expense for body armor to the new budget which would amount to $6,000+. Municipal Services and Personnel Committee wanted to address the proper disposal of chemicals and yard waste in storm drains and yard waste.
The City Administrator, Connie Latimer, had a number of different things to touch on. First the airport project is underway in two weeks, which will remodel the terminal. Completion date is expect to be June 1, 2015. She also touched on the progress of the solar farm on the south side of town and the contract negotiations with the old hospital which will be converted to elderly housing.
Ordinances were listed next on the agenda and the council voted on four different ordinances. First ordinance was the call for General Municipal Election on April 5, 2015, and the council voted to adopt it. Next was an ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Fire Chief of the City of Marshall to enter into certain mutual aid agreements with other fire departments. Another ordinance being voted on was to authorizing ground leasing consent and agreement with the solar farm developers, the ordinance will finance development of the solar energy site. And the last ordinance voted on was the appropriation ordinance. All ordinances were adopted by the city council.
Following other council business the public meeting was adjourned. Marshall City Council will meet again December 7, 2015, at their usual time of 5:15 p.m.
