MARSHALL, Mo. — Deemed an “imminent danger” the former masonic lodge building in Marshall that partially collapsed during a storm on June 15th will be demolished as soon a contractor can get started.

The building is reportedly an old Masonic Lodge.

This afternoon after a discussion period, the council voted unanimously to hire a contractor to take the three story structure down amidst concerns for the safety of a neighboring building to the east.

The work will be done by Earthwork Excavating of Higginsville.

There is a possibility of a 10 day waiting period after the demolition paperwork is submitted to the Department of Natural Resources.

In the other action today, Marshall City Council approved an interim lease for the Chamber of Commerce to use the Marshall Habilitation Center for putting together a fireworks display.
