PRESS RELEASE: (Missouri Department of Conservation) — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites hunters of ages 14 and older to a Wingshooting for the Hunter workshop in Kirksville on June 22. The program will take place 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., beginning at the MDC Northeast Regional Office, 3500 S. Baltimore Road in Kirksville, and then moving to Big Creek Conservation Area just west of town.
This FREE workshop will help migratory and upland bird hunters improve their hunting skills with non-toxic shot. Topics covered in the program will include how to select the best ammunition and choke combination for hunting, how to improve shooting skills, general information on the latest non-toxic shotgun ammunition, how to improve range and distance estimation skills, and how to properly pattern shotguns.
Participants must have some prior understanding of waterfowl or upland game bird hunting, shotgun shooting, chokes, and ammunition. Participants should bring their hunting shotguns and choke tubes, if applicable, eye and ear protection, lunch, a stool or chair, and any other non-toxic shotgun ammunition they wish to pattern. Clay targets, and 12- and 20-guage non-toxic practice ammunition will be provided.
