“We expect to have a fly-over; in addition, our guest speaker will be Paul Connors who is a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Air Force for eight years,” said Rasmussen, “He is now a commissioner on the Missouri Veterans Commission.”

The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the cemetery on Business Highway 13 in Higginsville.

The Missouri Veterans Commission invites the public to attend Memorial Day ceremonies at it’s five State Veterans Cemeteries – Bloomfield, Fort Leonard Wood, Higginsville, Jacksonville, and Springfield May 28.

“Our cemeteries continue the grand tradition of honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country,” said Larry D. Kay, Executive Director of the Missouri Veterans Commission, “I encourage everyone to attend a Memorial Day ceremony or participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 pm on Memorial Day. It’s the least we can do for these brave, gallant men and women.”
