Wright believes the book could be very significant to the community in the long-term.  “It’s not only a way to preserve our history, but it’s a way to preserve it so that our children’s children will still have something to look at,” said Wright.  Photos will captions of 100 words or less will be accepted through October 31st.

The Memories of Marceline Book Committee’s vision is of a pictorial history unlike any other ever published on Marceline.  To reach this goal, the committee is requesting the public to submit photos, with captions, for a history of Marceline.

We are seeking photos (with captions) for the following topics (only related to Marceline):

  • Marceline: The Early Years
  • Buildings
  • Businesses
  • Landmarks
  • Railroad
  • Walt Disney
  • People
  • Organizations
  • Schools
  • Churches
  • Coal Mines
  • Farming
  • Marceline: The Present

Submission of photos with their captions is free.  Requirements are simple:  100 words or less.  The book committee reserves the right to edit submissions if required for space.

Deadline for submissions is October 31, 2012.  You can drop off your materials at Bob Stuart Insurance, 104 S. Main Street, Marceline, MO 64658.  Photos can be scanned at that time or dropped off and returned (include your contact info).  You can also email the photos and captions directly to Paula or Pamela (email addresses below) or mail them to Paula Wright at P.O. Box 155, Marceline, MO.  The volume will be compiled and organized by the book committee.  The Donning company Publishers, a subsidiary of Walsworth Publishing Company, will complete the design.  The book will be printed an bound by Walsworth Publishing Company in Marceline in order to take full advantage of the employment of local residents.

Memories of Marceline will be an 8.5″ x 11″ format containing 160 pages.  Release date is set for April 2013.  You can purchase your volume for $29.95 today.
