SULLIVAN COUNTY, Mo. — Drug charges have been filed against a resident of Milan in Sullivan County.
A deputy with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a vehicle driven by Cortney Kay Merriott, 30, around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11.
Merriott had allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highways 5 and 6 in Sullivan County.
As the officer questioned Merriott, she allegedly handed over a partially-used marijuana cigarette and told the deputy she did not have any other contraband on her person or in her vehicle.
Merriott was read her Miranda warning and placed under arrest.
A probable cause search of the vehicle recovered marijuana, a white crystal substance which tested positive as methamphetamine and three glass pipes consistent with drug use.
Merriott is charged with a single count of possession of a controlled substance, except 35 grams or less of marijuana.
Merriott is currently held at the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond. Future court dates have not yet been set.
