HARRISONVILLE, Mo – Local representative, Donna Pfautsch, of Harrisonville, has authored an amendment signed into law last week, that deems the month of February, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

The Missouri bill, 921, originating in the Senate, attempts to strengthen the rights of crime victims, and compels colleges and universities to cooperate with law enforcement in forming campus policies that address sexual climate.

She was joined by Samantha Bowers, a graduate of Harrisonville school, and Miss Missouri competitor, who requested the amendment.  Bowers claims that 1 in 3 adolescents will experience some form of dating abuse.
