Missouri’s Conservation Department reminds hunters to properly dispose of deer carcasses in order to contain the spread of chronic wasting disease.

Recommended methods include placing the remains in landfills, or disposing through proper trash collection. If recourse to those methods are unavailable, hunters are encouraged to leave the carcass on site. If transporting the animal into Missouri from out of state, it must be reported within 24 hrs, and taken to a licensed meat processor or taxidermist within 72 hours.
