Missouri natural gas customers will see a slight reduction in rates.

The Missouri Public Service Commission says consumers with Empire District Gas Company will pay 1.7 cents less per 100 cubic feet of gas. Empire District serves a large portion of western Missouri. The commission says the rate reduction was partly the result of lower corporate tax rates which came about through the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Corporations are taxed 14 % less because of the legislation. Empire District will consequently reduce revenue obtained through customer rates by over $773,000.
