MISSOURI — The director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture (DOA), Chris Chinn announced the FFA and 4-H grant recipients as part of the Building Our American Communities program.

Among the list of awarded FFA chapters, the Eldon FFA chapter in Miller County, Bevier FFA in Macon County and Milan FFA in Sullivan County. The 4-H clubs that received grants include T-Town 4-H and Spring Garden 4-H in Miller County, Brookfield 4-Hers from Linn County and Green Hills 4-H from Sullivan County.

According to press release Wednesday, each grant awardee will receive $500 to put toward their youth service projects which can range from upgrades to existing facilities to additions to cummunity centers.

The grants are part of the Building Our American Communities program which receives submitted project proposals for consideration and awards the grants to the youth organizations. Funds are to only be used to support special community projects which must be completed by August 1, 2019.

Chinn was quoted in the press release expressing her support for FFA and 4-H as well as the importance of supporting youth programs.

“It’s important that we continue to support youth as they seek leadership opportunities to serve their communities,” Chinn said, “I am so proud of each to the Missouri FFA chapter and 4-H clubs that were awarded grants and thank them for showing up and making a difference in their community. The are truly inspiring to us in Missouri Agriculture.”
