In early July, educators from across the state of Missouri will go to Denver to join national colleagues to discuss issues that are facing public education. Charles Smith is the President of the Missouri National Education Association.
Mr. Smith says there are quite a few issues facing public education such as school safety. Other things to be discussed will be the common core standards, teacher evaluations and standardized testing. He stresses that for legislators, it is difficult to pass laws regarding public education because they are not the ones in the classrooms everyday.
Much more information can be found on the National Education Association website.
