April is Missouri Patient Safety Awareness Month, and medical facilities statewide are looking at ways to ensure their patients are safe from risks inside the hospital. According to Kathleen Radcliff, Risk Manager at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, they are constantly looking for ways to make improvements.
Radcliff says one of the things they do is participate in “Banding Together.”
Radcliff says the color-coded bands allow personnel to instantly see there is something with that particular patient they need to be aware of, instead of having to search for the information in a computer file or on a chart. Another initiative at Hedrick Medical Center is the “Stop BSI” initiative, to help prevent blood stream infections.
