IRVINE, Ca. – An NAIA men’s soccer championship trophy will be coming to Missouri, regardless of the who wins today.

That’s because Missouri Valley College in Marshall upset top seed William Carey University from Mississippi by a come from behind score of 2 to 1. That set up the final match at 8:00 p.m. tonight in Irvine, California, against Central Methodist University in Fayette. Central Methodist beat Madonna University of Michigan in the semi-final to advance to the championship match. These teams tied with zero to zero in the regular season and Missouri Valley won their post season matchup 2 to 1 in order to advance to the William Carey game.

This is Missouri Valley’s second trip in as many years to the championship. They lost to Wayland Baptist University of Texas last year in a zero to one double overtime shootout.
