MISSOURI Good news finally came out about the United States Mexico and Canada Agreement (USMCA). House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a deal made yesterday, between the President and Democrats. The house is expected to vote on the deal by next week.
Director of communications and public relations, Christine Tew, said Missouri soybean farmers want to sell their crop and not live off of government subsidies.
Reportedly, in 2017, the United States exported 48 percent of its soybean production. Forty-nine percent of that was exported to China. Tew talked about the economic impact of not having trade deals inked.
Tew spoke about the importance of trade with our north and south bordering countries and how important it is to get this deal done.
There is also a relationship rebuilding process between the United States and their foreign trade markets that the Missouri Soybean Association will assist on.
President Trump tweeted “America’s great USMCA Trade Bill is looking good. It will be the best and most important trade deal ever made by the USA. Good for everybody — Farmers, Manufacturers, Energy, Unions – tremendous support. Importantly, we will finally end our Country’s worst Trade Deal, NAFTA!”
President Trump’s tweet added, “Looking like very good Democrat support for USMCA. That would be great for our Country!”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “The deal was a day we have all been working to, and for, on the path to yes.”
