MISSOURI — The catch-and-keep trout season in Missouri kicks off March 1 at three major trout parks around the state.

According to a press release from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), the season for trout will begin at Roaring Rivers State Park in Cassville, Bennett Springs State Park near Lebanon and Montauk State Park in Salem.

Missouri trout at the three state parks are allowed to be kept, once caught, until October 31.

In order to fish for trout this season at the parks, trout tags must be purchased at state park concession stores.

MDNR reports that last year more than 4,600 adult and youth trout tags were sold at state parks on opening day.

Anglers are encouraged to visit Missouri’s state parks and enjoy fishing for and feeding their appetite for fresh trout.
