The Missouri Beef Summit was held last Monday in response to Governor Jay Nixon’s call for Missouri’s beef industry to capitalize on a new sector of the business. Missouri Director of Agriculture, Richard Fordyce says that the program was a success, and very well attended.
Fordyce says there were a lot of topics covered by various panels but the issues addressed all had one basic theme.
Reports show that Kansas and Nebraska generate approximately $7 and $10 billion dollars respectively through feedlot and packing plant operations and Missouri standing 2nd in the nation in cow/calf numbers, Missouri has a prime opportunity to enter into the feedlot and beef packing industries.
