RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. — An arrest previously reported by KMZU News has new details.

According to a press release from the North Missouri Drug Task Force, the woman officers took into custody last week for drug charges was a security guard at the Moberly Correction Center. An investigation by the task force took place after officers received information that Barbara Ward, 34, would be obtaining illegal drugs before coming to work on Friday, March 10.

Surveillance of Ward was conducted and officers observed her meeting with another subject at Break Time in Moberly. Ward then went to work and was confronted by an investigator. She then admitted to picking up “something” before coming to work. Ward gave consent to a vehicle search and officers uncovered 3 packages wrapped in the fingers of a glove. they contained marijuana, methamphetamine and 40 gel caps filled with heroin.

Ward is charged with 2 felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Randolph County Justice Center held on a $100,000.00 bond.
