MOBERLY, Mo. — A Moberly man was jailed Saturday morning, after eluding police during a traffic stop Friday night.

According to a Moberly Police Department news release, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Morley Street, just after 11:00 p.m. Friday.

The car sped away and due to the recklessness of the driver, police decided to break off the pursuit.

A short time later the car was found, still running, abandoned in the yard of a residence on Nickle Trail. An investigation led officers to James Robert Shepherd, III, 39, who was determined to be the driver.

Shepherd is charged with driving while revoked, driving while intoxicated as a prior offender and felony resisting arrest.

Bond is set at $15,000 cash only.
