The Missouri Coalition For Roadway Safety says it’s reached a major milestone, two years early. The group aimed to see 850 or fewer fatal accidents on Missouri roads by 2012. In 2010, there were 821 fatal accidents. The coalition held a celebration this week at the University of Missouri. That’s where 436 people swarmed the basketball court, representing all the lives saved. MoDOT Director Kevin Keith says the coalition is made up of a groundbreaking group.
Keith says this milestone has been a long time coming.
This is the lowest number of traffic fatalities in Missouri in 60 years.
