KANSAS CITY, Mo – Over the weekend, MODOT Kansas City closed down both directions of I-70 between I-435 and I-470/Route 291 for the demolition of two major ramps within the I-435 and I-70 interchange.

According to a press release, the ramps have been removed and will be rebuilt in Spring of 2020. Crews were able to reopen the interstate by 10:30 p.m. Sunday, several hours earlier than anticipated. Without having to deal with normal traffic through the work site, crews were able to complete over a year’s worth of work in just one weekend.

The closure was part of interchange improvements at I-435 and I-70 scheduled to be completed by December 2020.
