CARROLLTON, Mo – With the rise in smart phone usage and technology used in ours cars, paying attention to the road can slip one’s mind. Taking your eyes off the road, even for a few seconds, can have major consequences. Since 2014, cell phone related crashes have increased by 35 percent in Missouri.

To help combat distracted driving in Missouri, the Missouri Department of Transportation has created the Buckle Up Phone Down Campaign.

The campaign includes an annual Buckle Up Phone Down Day on October 29 held on the campus of University of Missouri, as well as other locations across the state.

The campaign recently reached 10,000 members, and would like to reach 20,000 members by 2020.
