The Missouri Department of Transportation snow plows will be training and running their routes on state highways this week. Drivers may not see snow but MoDOT crews need to be prepared when winter weather hits. Being as prepared as possible for the upcoming snow season is the goal behind the drill to ensure crews are ready to address major weather when it becomes an issue in Northwest Missouri.
During the statewide winter operations drill, trucks with snowplows and spreaders will deploy across state routes in response to a simulated snowfall event. This exercise allows crews to measure the snowplow circuit and better anticipate response times before snow really does fly.
