Uninvited thunderstorms dumped rain and hail in northwestern Missouri Thursday, potentially making historic Missouri River flooding worse. Brian Korty with the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC) said the next system has been very difficult to predict.
At Waverly, the Missouri River reached 24.92 feet overnight, and it is expected to climb to between 27 and 31 feet by the end of next week. Chief of Missouri River Basin Water Management Jody Farhat addressed rumors about the peak releases from the mainstem reservoirs. Farhat said actual releases are based on ground conditions and are subject to change.
The Corps will be participating in a public meeting at the Brunswick Knight’s of Columbus Hall in Chariton County, Tuesday, June 14th at 6 o’clock and the First Baptist Church in Orrick on June 16th at 7:30 p.m.
