RAY COUNTY, Mo. – The defense attorney is asking for the postponement of a child abuse trial scheduled later this month in Ray County.
A motion for continuance was filed Monday on behalf of Shelby L. Mattson, 27, of Blue Springs. Mattson is charged with two class B felony counts of abuse or neglect of a child causing serious injury and one class C felony count of child abuse or neglect. Mattson allegedly babysat a child in 2015 that was returned to the parents with serious bruising. A medical examination found broken bones and other injuries.
The motion hearing begins at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, to delay the July 15, 2019 jury trial.
