An American multinational automaker is planning to temporarily lay off more than 1,200 workers from its Claycomo plant next month, according to a report from the Kansas City Business Journal. Ford said it will halt production of the Escape model at the facility on Apr. 27 to prepare for the manufacturing of a new compact panel van. Production of the Ford Transit Connect is expected to begin in 2013. It is not clear how long workers will be out of a job.
