A Mexico, Missouri man is under arrest following a pursuit this morning.
According to official police documents, around 1:15 a.m., June 5, 2015, Boone County deputies observed a motorcycle exceeding the posted speed limit while traveling eastbound in the area of Broadway and Broadway Bluffs Drive in Columbia.
When the officers attempted to stop the driver, he did not yield and led the deputies in a pursuit. The pursuit continued into Callaway County on Highway WW. The Driver then proceeded north to State Route J and crashed near Route J and Highway 40. After the crash, the pursuit continued on foot and the driver was apprehended a short distance away after a brief struggle.
The individual was later identified as Lewis Cloven. Allegedly, a search of the suspect resulted in the discovery of marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and about $3,000 in cash.
Cloven was arrested on the charges of:
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
- Felony resisting arrest
- Driving while suspended
- Careless and imprudent driving
- Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia
- Failure to register motor vehicle
According to KRCG, Cloven was arrested in March in Mexico, Missouri following a drug bust. A search warrant was served in the 900 block of West Boulevard in Mexico and the search revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $3,500 in cash. Cloven was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
