SHELBY COUNTY, Mo. — A Bethel resident found himself in the hospital after striking a deer on his motorcycle in Shelby County Monday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Ted Miller, 49, was traveling eastbound on Highway J (eight miles northeast of Shelbyville) when he struck a deer in the roadway. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, ejecting Miller from his motorcycle.

Miller was diagnosed with serious injuries at the scene. He was transported by air ambulance to Blessing Hospital, in Quincy, Illinois.
