Monday morning, drivers in northeast Missouri will want to take it slow on their commute as roads may still have sections of snow and ice on them. Even though the winter system has moved out of the region, bitterly cold temperatures will be present and winds may cause blowing snow to cover sections of the roadway. Some areas in the southern part of the district received sleet and freezing rain over the weekend which are causing slick conditions. Crews will continue to work through the night to keep roads plowed.
If you must travel in the morning, please be prepared, use caution and remember the following winter driving tips:
· Wear your seat belt.
· Slow down, and adjust your speed to the conditions.
· Give snow plows plenty of room.
· Keep your windshield and windows clear to help you see.
· Be alert and remember that road conditions can change very quickly.
· Allow extra travel time to get to your destination.
MoDOT urges motorists to take your time and plan ahead by checking MODOT’s Traveler Information Map for road conditions on http://www.modot.org/.
