COLUMBIA — Thursday morning, the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) approved alternate sports seasons for schools who opt out or cannot continue fall sports competitions, due to COVID-19.

In the plan, alternate fall seasons would be able to begin on March 12 and end by May 1. Alternate spring sports could be begin on May 14 and end by July 10. The winter sports season would remain the same.

“Today’s action by the board of directors puts into place a plan of action our staff devised in the event a school is not able to participate partially or in whole,” MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Kerwin Urhahn said in a statement. “This could give those students an opportunity to complete a season in their sport.”
