COLUMBIA, Mo. — Producers looking to expand their operation might consider leasing farmland.
However, this can prove to be a confusing process and presents the possibility of a bad deal for the farmer.
To help ensure that producers better understand how to lease farmland, the University of Missouri Extension is hosting farm lease meetings around the state.
According to the MU Extension, the meetings will take place September 24 and will be held at 11 separate locations including Carrollton, Gallatin, Higginsville, Kingston, Maryville and Unionville. Each meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Some of the topics covered during these meetings include what to include in the lease terms and to legally, current cash and rental rates as well as livestock and crop shares.
Anyone that is interested in attending the meeting is encouraged to contact their local extension office for exact meeting locations, registration and fees.
