(SEDALIA, Mo.) – Miss Meredith Jones was crowned the 2011 Missouri State Fair Queen Aug. 12 in a 3 p.m. coronation service held in the Mathewson Exhibition Center. Miss Jones will reign over the remaining State Fair events and represent the Missouri State Fair throughout the coming year.
Contestants vying for the crown were judged in multiple areas including interviews, speech and talent and evening gown. Miss Jones received the highest score out of 62 contestants in the competition, and was crowned by the 2010 Missouri State Fair Queen Megan Westhoff, of Memphis, Mo. 
Miss Jones, of Dawn, Mo., is the representative of Mizzou Collegiate Farm Bureau, and is the daughter of Charles and Sherry Jones.
Miss Jones was overjoyed when she received the crown. “I love the Missouri State Fair!” she said. “This is one of the greatest opportunities of my life and has been my dream since I was a little girl.”
Jones is a junior at the University of Missouri in Columbia studying Agricultural Education.
As queen, Miss Jones will receive a $2,000 scholarship to continue her education at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Miss Washington Town and Country, Christine Haddox, received first runner-up and a $500 scholarship. Second runner-up went to Miss Lincoln University of Missouri, Amanda Andrews, who will receive a $300 scholarship.
The third runner-up was Miss Mizzou Collegiate 4-H, Amy Wilsdorf.  Miss Wilsdorf will receive a $200 scholarship, and fourth runner-up was Miss Platte County, Hannah Rickman, receiving a $100 scholarship.
Recognition certificates were given to contestants ranking highest in each of the four competitive categories. Jones was the top ranking contestant in the Speech category. Rickman ranked highest in the Evening Gown category.  The top ranked contestant in the Talent category was Andrews. Highest rank in the Interview category was a tie between Wilsdorf and Miss Soulard Oktoberfest, Jaimie Sommer.
