CASS COUNTY, Mo. – A multiple vehicle accident in Cass County this afternoon sent two people to the hospital.
At 3:52 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, three separate vehicles driven by Tanner S. Gulick, 17, Margaret K. Finney, 52, and James C. Gaston, 21, were heading eastbound on MO-58, just east of Prairie Lane. Gaston was stopped and attempting to turn left into a private driveway when Finney came to a sudden stop behind him. Gulick was behind Finney and began to skid, striking Finney’s vehicle.
Gulick then skid into the westbound lane and struck the vehicle of Patricia K. Shade, 74, partially head on. Gulick continued to skid eastbound and struck Gatson’s vehicle.
Finney then skidded off the south edge of the highway and came to rest in a ditch. Gulick came to rest within both lanes of MO-58. Shade skidded off the north edge of the highway and came to rest in a ditch.
Finney sustained serious injuries and was taken by EMS to St. Luke’s East Hospital, while Shade received moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Belton Regional Medical Center.
Gulick and Gatson had minor injuries, but refused treatment on scene. All four individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
