A multi-vehicle accident Monday evening in Platte County, resulted in several injuries. According to the Highway Patrol, traffic was slowing due to construction and rush hour, on northbound I-29 at the 22.8 mile marker when a vehicle being driven by Robert Sanko, 45, of Topeka, Kansas failed to stop and struck the rear of a vehicle being driven by Jerry Wofford, 65, of Topeka, Kansas. The Sanko vehicle went on to strike a vehicle driven by Robert Dixon, 42, of Kansas City, Missouri. Sanko then struck a vehicle being driven by Debra Nichols, 55, of St. Joseph. Sanko continued on and hit a vehicle being driven by Willie McIntosh, 53, of Mount Grove, Missouri. This caused the McIntosh vehicle to strike a vehicle being driven by Richard Fox, 43, from the state of Iowa. Minor inuries were sustained by Dixon, Nichols and McIntosh and they were transported to local hospitals. Sanko received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital. Wofford sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional. Fox was uninjured.
