A number of cases in the area will be heard in different courtrooms Tuesday.
That includes the case of a Sedalia man who is charged with first degree murder and will go before a jury in a Boone County Courtroom. Rudy Perez, Jr., 33, is accused of killing 78-year-old Robert Hill of Warsaw on February 1st. Perez is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. His attorney has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental defect.
A Richmond woman who allegedly took her four-year-old son to Oklahoma without permission will be in a Ray County courtroom Tuesday morning for a pre-emptory docket hearing. Cassi Licata, 30, was charged on April 1 with interference with custody – removal from state or concealed, according to online court records. Cassi Licata will go before the Judge at 9:30 a.m.
A Sedalia resident arrested in March was on probation for an earlier incident of shooting a firearm from or at a moving vehicle going back to 2011. Kyle Thomas Huffman, 46, is now charged with alleged possession of a controlled substance. He will be in Ray County court for a probation violation hearing at 9:30 a.m.
A Marshall resident, facing multiple drug-related charges, is scheduled to appear in a Ray County courtroom Tuesday morning as well. Carlos Banks, 35, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia in Saline County. A change of venue was granted and Tuesday’s criminal setting for Banks gets started at 10:30 a.m.
A Holt woman will be in Clinton County Court for a hearing in her animal abuse case. Debbie Sharts, 55, was charged in late 2012 with one count of animal abuse. She will go before Judge Luckenbill at 1 p.m.
