CLAY COUNTY, Mo. — Charges were filed in Clay County Tuesday over a dismembered body found in a burning home on May 3.

Police responding to a shots fired call on Poe Avenue, found a fire in the basement of the residence. 30-year-old Colton Stock claims his was attacked by a man with a gun but took the firearm away and shot the assailant.

Firefighters found the dismembered and burned body of Matthew Calkins in the basement of the home.

Prosecutors have charged Stock with first degree murder, armed criminal action, abandonment of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
