ODESSA, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a warning for the area telling residents to be vigilant about an increased fire hazard in the coming days. Click to hear KMZU’s Brian Lock’s full interview with Odessa Fire Chief Kevin Campbell about the warning.

Chief Campbell said these warnings require people to be alert when they are outdoors due to high winds and dry, warm conditions. He said that any type of outdoor burning is discouraged until the all-clear is given by the National Weather Service.

Campbell said that he expects the warning to extend to Saturday at the least, but that it is possible it could be in effect until Sunday or Monday.
