MACON COUNTY, Mo. — The new attorney for an Iowa man, accused several drug charges in Macon County, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday.

Jacob W. Nordyke, 36, of Ottumwa, lost his public defender when it was determined he was not indigent.

Nordyke and a passenger in his car, Bette McNabb, were arrested after drugs and rifle was found during a traffic stop in Macon.

Nordyke is charged with possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked.

His attorney is asking for the case to be heard in the Associate Court.
